Exotic & Oriental

The woven arts in the Orient began thousands of years ago with silk tapestries from the Qing dynasty, and spread through the culture of China and then through Europe via the Silk Road from the 5th to 12th centuries. European tapestries then added Asian themes in their compositions, as the artists were fascinated by exotic discoveries they made through travel, in a fascinating fusion of east and west.
